Dilluted Milk Racket Busted in India

Acting on a tip off, police today raided a dairy located in Kondhwa area and seized 4,000 liters of bad milk. Five people are under arrest for mixing in water with the milk packets.

[Kishore Jadhav, Police Official]:
"According to our information these persons used to extract 200 milliliters of milk from a one liter milk packet and refill it with water. These milk packets were of branded companies like Amul Diary and they used to sell it to different communities."

Police also seized vehicles that were used to distribute the milk packets.

After water was added, the milk packets were sealed by heating them with a candle to make them appear genuine. They were sold to thousands of unsuspecting customers in and around the city.

[Kishore Jadhav, Police Official]:
"Their daily turnover was around 5,000 liters and they used to supply to 5000-6000 people in the Kondhwa area of Pune."

Police said investigations were continuing so as to net the rest of the gang members.
